THE battle at the top of the Louth Indoor Bowls Club Summer Triples league hotted up last week as two wins for Oaks saw them close the gap on leaders Bujiars to three points.
Oaks enjoyed comfortable victories over the bottom two teams beating Magnificent 7 by 21-5 and Numbskulls by 20-10.
Bujiars completed a simple 18-8 win over Rolling Scones after taking a 9-0 lead but then slipped up against Two Plus One losing 13-8.
It had been a tight game but the victors won the last four ends after the score had been at 8-8.
Mudlarks maintained an outside chance of disturbing the top two with two wins of their own. They were 4-6 down against Two Plus One but grabbed a ‘6’ and went on to win 22-7.
They staged another recovery against Magnificent 7 coming from 3-10 behind to win 15-11. Mix and Match were involved in two thrillers.
They had an early 6-0 lead against Numbskulls but had to hang on at the end for a 12-10 victory.
They again had an early lead against Rolling Scones but dropped a ‘6 to go 7-11 behind but won the last two ends to snatch a deserved 11-11 draw.
