Time running out for Lincolnshire sports funding

SPORTS clubs, centres and organisations in Lincolnshire now have less than two months to apply for Sportivate funding.

So far over £70,000 has been split between 110 projects since July, allowing clubs and organisations to offer sport to children and young people across the county.

The second year of funding gets underway in July 2012, but the deadline for this is January 20.

The focus for next year will be projects which target minority groups in the sporting world such as girls, women and disability sport.

Lucy Blakey, Children and Young People’s Officer at Lincolnshire Sports Partnership, said: “Nearly £400,000 is available for sports projects in Lincolnshire to encourage semi-sport teenagers and young adults to take part in sport over the next four years.

“It’s a great opportunity to encourage young people to get involved in sport but also provides a huge financial incentive for sports clubs, schools, leisure facilities and others, to deliver more sport across Lincolnshire.”

Sports clubs, schools, community groups, NGBs, local authorities, universities, youth clubs, 6th form and further educational Colleges, leisure facilities and workplaces targeting 14 to 25 year olds can all apply for funding. Projects are asked to base their applications on £30 per head for six to eight week sport sessions.

The application form for funding can be found online at www.lincolnshiresports.com/sportivate or to request a copy call Lucy on 01522 585 580.
