Wolds Table Tennis Club awards evening


The Wolds Table Tennis Club held its winter awards evening at the Rodney Hotel, Horncastle recently.

Thirty guests and friends of the Belchford-based club attended with a variety of prizes being handed out for club competitions played in both November and December.


Premiership Singles: winner, Paul Emmerson; runner-up, Nigel Devereux

Championship Singles: winner, Doug Rodwell; runner-up, Brian Gilliland

League One Singles: winner, Ryan Hinson; runner-up, Karen Ward

Premiership Doubles: winners, Mick Cox/Derek Elmhirst; runners-up, Steve Mason/Mike Wade

Championship Doubles: winners, Brian Gilliland/Ryan Hinson; runners-up, Mary Silverton/Doug Rodwell

Most Improved Player of 2013: 1 Karen Ward, 2 Ryan Hinson, 3 Lesley Devereux

The WTTC’s prestigious Triples League has just got underway and runs until the end of May. Five teams will be battling it out in a series of singles and doubles matches to lift the club’s most coveted competition award.

The Wolds Table Tennis Club has between 35-40 regular players and puts on three sessions every week for players of all standards, ranging from improvers to former county league and ex-youth international players.

The club does not accept absolute beginners or current league players.

The emphasis is very much on a great social night out with the added spice of a bit of competitive table tennis.
