THE longest linear coastal art festival in Europe, Bathing Beauties, is set to hit Mablethorpe and Sutton on Sea next month, and organisers are working hard to eclipse last year’s success.

The festival is held annually and is one of the biggest events on the east coast calendar, with over 15,000 people turning up last year.

It encompasses local art and also work from further afield, as well as celebrating the beauty of beach huts on our coast which are decked out for the occasion.

This year’s festival will be the fifth since its 2006 conception. It takes place on the weekend of September 16 to 18 and is organised by the Mablethorpe Tourism Forum.

Locals and visitors can trek the length of the festival from Mablethorpe right up towards Sandilands, enjoying the beautiful sights.

The weekend will also feature live music, parades and a continental market.

Leader of the East Lindsey District Council, Coun Doreen Stephenson, said: “Bathing Beauties is an important festival for Mablethorpe and the wider area as it creates another opportunity for people to visit outside the main holiday season, which can only be good for the local economy.

“I look forward to meeting everyone in Mablethorpe at the festival.”
