A local steam railway is gearing up for what will be a unique event in the history of railway preservation.
In April, a preserved Great Northern Railway steam locomotive, Gresley Class N2 Tank No 1744, will be visiting the Lincolnshire Wolds Railway in Ludborough for this year’s Easter Steam Gala, to celebrate the first ever visit of a Great Northern Railway locomotive to a GNR heritage line.
The steam train will be working along with two others on all three days of the Easter Gala, which will be held from Saturday April 4 to Monday April 6. Eight trains will be running hourly each day, from 9.45am until 4.45pm.
There will be an evening photo shoot at Ludborough engine shed on Good Friday, and on Easter Sunday every child who travels on the train will be given an Easter egg.
