A new, fully restored digital print of Stanley Kubrick’s science fiction epic, 2001: A Space Odyssey, is to be shown at Louth Film Club on Monday April 13.
Partially inspired by an Arthur C. Clarke short story, it was voted the sixth greatest film ever made in a 2012 Sight and Sign poll.
In 2010, it was even ranked the greatest film of all time by The Moving Arts Film Journal.
Winning 15 awards overall, it is famous for minimal use of dialogue, pioneering special effects and daringly original soundtrack.
The film starts at 7.30pm at the Playhouse Cinema, Louth, on Monday April 13. Membership of the club costs £10 with £4 for each film (£6.50 for non-members; £5.20 for concessions).
