Wolds Walking Festival

Where have all the men gone? That is the question organisers of the Lincolnshire Wolds Walking Festival are asking.

The festival has a fabulous reputation for getting people together to enjoy fun and healthy experiences in the great outdoors.

The 2014 event, which runs from Saturday May 17 to Sunday June 1, is no exception and more than 5,000 people will wander across some of the best bits of the Wolds an area of outstanding natural beauty.

Organised walks are a great way of informally meeting new people and this year event co-ordinator Nicki Jarvis is particularly keen in involve anyone who is single.

Nicki said: “I’m leading my first walk for the festival and I’m delighted to say that it’s a Speed Dating Walk.

“Taking place on the evening of Friday May 30 the four mile walk near Swaby will be like a pub quiz on legs, as participants will get to chat with each other while trying to complete their question sheet.

“There will be prizes for the winners of course, but we hope that some firm friendships might also be made along the way.”

Already, plenty of women have signed up for the walk.

Nicki added: “We need more men.

“Almost all of the 15 places for women have been snapped up but we still need some more gentlemen to take part.

“ Come on you blokes.”

The speed dating walk starts at 6pm and finishes up with tea and cake at the Tracey’s Little Cupcake Tearoom in Swaby.

The Wolds Festival is established as one of the most successful in the country and will finish in Horncastle.
