A group of talented musicians have finally done something they have been meaning to do for years. They have formed a band, and are heading to Louth!
Dave Formula and The Finks features Dave, the keyboardist from late 80s post-punk band Magazine, as well as Keith and Dave Angel on drums and guitars and Andy Seward on bass.
The group of friends have finally got it together following the recent Magazine reunion and tour.
The group have all played together before as The Angel Brothers who themselves are no strangers to Louth, playing a number of times in the town as well as at many of the major festivals like Glastonbury.
However, this new band is in a very much more rootsy/funk area, including the music of Booker T and The MG’s & New Orlean’s funk masters, The Meters.
Dave said: “We’re adding more original tunes to our expanding repertoire by the week and we’ll be putting up some footage on YouTube from a live show we’re recording very soon.
“Dave Formula and The Finks is something we’ve all been meaning to put together for a while now, but other commitments have, until recently, obscured our collective path to a funkier state of being.
“As a result the band’s shared interest in motorcycling and the ultimate groove we had intense discussions about our priorities whilst out biking, late last year, and as a result we have rightly seen the coming together of the band this year.”
Dave recently appeared at Louth’s revitalised New Orleans Club for a sold out show with The Legendary Night Owls.
So don’t miss out on The Finks when they appear at the club this Friday, March 15.
Tickets are available from Off The Beaten Tracks in Aswell Street, on 01507 607677 and also from The New Orleans Club in Queen Street.
